Light vs. Darkness
One thing that was talked about this past weekend at the “New Life for Old” conference was Light and that Jesus was light. Take a look at John 8:12 and we’ll wrap up the weekend with this thought.
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus is the light of the world. Wherever and whenever he show up in a place, things happen and things change. Just as Jesus came and shine his light in a dark world, shouldn’t we be doing the same? We should be light affecting darkness. But I find that our light is not shining. We are finding that darkness is affecting light. It seem our light shine brightly in the church but when Monday comes we simply turn off the light. We are not affecting darkness. Our friends can’t see our light. Our Co-workers can’t see our light. Our family can’t see our light. They don’t see the difference in you. People ought to see something different about you because you don’t live the way they do. You don’t talk like they do. You don’t behave like they do. You are the light of the world. Whenever you show up, people ought to change their conversations. They ought to change their behavior. Keep shining your light. Don’t let your light go out. Let people see there is something different about you. Let’s be real Christian instead of fake Christian. Don’t take out the light. Don’t hide your light. Let your light affect darkness.
That devo was really good. The msg on the weekend was good too. I didnt hear all of the msg for the whole weekend, but enjoyed what i did hear. Its true what your devo is saying, we shouldnt be fake christians. It is irratating when people call themselves christians and dont show it. I remember Jesus Freak saying onetime we’re all not Billy Ghrams, but we can be like Jesus. Just like that song from Traced Image. We dont have to be preachy, but as we shouldnt forget about who Jesus is when you have a chance to tell about him. Doing RAK for someone, saying encouraging things to brighten someones day or lending a helping hand, etc. are a few things to shine your light to show you care. Ive got a locker magnet that says Jesus Saves on my locker. Someone asked me am i religious? i said well im a christian and i believe Jesus died for me and such about why i stuck it in my locker. I tend to dislike the term religious cause it seems like your super perfect. Do u get that sometimes? if so how do u respond?

Um…is that a DATING SERVICE up there?? If it is, why is it there??
Dating services shouldn’t be encouraged. Not everyone in dating services are honest about who they are.

Sorry about that Becky. I run a “context relevant” ad service and apparently they think Christian dating ads are relevant. The thing is I can block them if I see what url they go to (eg. christianlifestyle.com is now blocked) If you see any dating ads, please send an email with the name of the ad and the address (www.whatevertheadis.com) to ben(at)vulcanyouth(dot)com.
