Acceptance
1 John 2:16 describes our society today. “For everything in the world– the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does–comes not from the Father but from the world.”
Some forms of the “lust of the eyes” are money, like people that form cliques and including only those that have money or people that wear certain brand name of clothes or drive fancy cars. God says he is against attitudes like this. It is attitudes or actions like this that say the desire for wanting or owning things, is more important than knowing God. I John 2:15 says “Do not love the world, or the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” It can be easy to fall into traps like this as people are being taught this everywhere we turn, everything is very self centered it says I deserve these things and I deserve them now! We are taught that we need to look out for #1 and forget about everyone else. The Bible teaches just the opposite that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. In 1 Corinthians 13:5 it says Love is not rude or self-seeking! If we call ourselves Christians we need to act like it.
